for Africa: Ruth de Vries

Posted on Apr 25th 2012

Ruth de Vries has worked extensively on media projects in the majority world, primarily in Africa. In the last four and half years, she was employed by World Press Photo as a project manager of the Education Department. As the coordinator for the project Twenty Ten (an initiative of World Press Photo, Free Voice, Africa Media Online and lokaalmondiaal) she managed an ambitious 2-year project to enhance the capacity of more than 100 African (photo)journalists through training, production and distribution of stories in the run up to the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

In this video we get to learn more about what kind of pictures we rarely get to see in reports from Africa and the importance of everyday pictures.
