Empty shelves are just that: empty. Although it cries out for something to display, this bookcase is a fine piece of woodwork in its own right. Amazingly, it's held up by just a few tiny screws.

Time to pack it away, with far too many other books. This edition looks like it was bought in the 1970s. I once read the whole thing over a weekend: 50 pages an hour!

I stole the idea for the bookcase from an article in the 'Financial Times'. It was made by my brother in law, who said it was really fiddly to get all the lengths just right!
