Considered by many to be the greatest novel ever written, my copy of 'Middlemarch' falls open at p.228. Just a quick look before it's packed away...

The label pretty much says it all.

Empty shelves are just that: empty. Although it cries out for something to display, this bookcase is a fine piece of woodwork in its own right. Amazingly, it's held up by just a few tiny screws.

First in; last out. My books sit right at the back of the container, safe from harm. When shall I see them again?

I won't be able to identify exactly in which box I can find which book. But it'll be fun reacquainting myself with my old friends.

The most important bit of the packing is now done. Now, what else needs to go into that container?

Time to pack it away, with far too many other books. This edition looks like it was bought in the 1970s. I once read the whole thing over a weekend: 50 pages an hour!

I stole the idea for the bookcase from an article in the 'Financial Times'. It was made by my brother in law, who said it was really fiddly to get all the lengths just right!
