Brett Reid, observatory manager, in a cherry picker above the 27 metre dish of the University of Tasmania radio telescope at Mt Pleasant. This picture has special significance for me as I have a 48 year connection with this radio telescope. I shot the building progress shots for NASA when the dish was being constructed for a tracking station near Canberra in 1964. A year later I photographed for the national newspaper, The Australian, its commissioning by the then Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies. In 1985 it was donated to UTAS by NASA and rebuilt here in Tasmania, Australia's island state.
